banner master christianity and society

Ethics and the financial world can strengthen each other rather than oppose each other. For example, the spirituality of the Jesuits and some papal documents of the last decades can teach us wise lessons to avoid financial crises. This subject has almost never been more actual!

Eric HolterhuesIn this guest lecture, Eric Holterhues reflects on his experience as both a banker and a theologian to discuss how Christian ethics work in the field of banking.

Eric Holterhues (1972) has worked for almost 20 years in the world of sustainable finance. Since 2017, he has been the managing director of Oikocredit Netherlands, an international social impact investor that provides finance in 71 countries in the fields of inclusive finance, agriculture and renewable energy. Previously, he worked for more than 17 years in various management roles at Triodos Bank. Eric studied Theology at the TST and followed additional courses in economics, management, and marketing at the universities of Utrecht, Rotterdam, Nijmegen, and New York.

The lecture is part of the course Christianity in dialogue with the economic world of the Master’s program in Christianity and Society.
