Marcel Canoy is distinguished lecturer at the Erasmus School of Accounting and Assurance at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Until 2015 he was chief economist at Ecorys. Until 2008 he worked as an economic adviser at the Bureau of European Policy Advisers (BEPA), the think tank of José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission. Previously, Canoy held various positions at the CPB, the economic think tank of the Dutch government. From 2008-2013 he worked as professor of Economics and Regulation of Care at Tilburg University. He recently published, in Dutch, De triple A econoom. Voorbij cijfers en cynisme (2013, Amsterdam: Boom). [‘The Triple-A Economist. Beyond Numbercrunching and Cynicism’]. Canoy has a weekly column at Het Financieele Dagblad (the Dutch ‘Financial Times’). He also publishes on his blog at www.economie.nl.
