The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) and the Institute of Philosophy (HIW) at KU Leuven (Belgium) invite applications for a full-time tenure track position in Business Ethics. Duties

Research

You will be part of the Centre for Economics and Ethics (a joint research centre of FEB and HIW) and will develop a research program of international standing in the field of Business Ethics. This field entails:

  • The most important concepts, models and theories regarding ethical aspects of the professional and business world including the question of corporate social responsibility and sustainable enterprise;
  • Deontology within organizations;
  • The broad social-ethical reflection on the economy and the interaction between the economy and society.

You will, as a member of the research centre, support and develop national and international collaborations and collaborations between faculties. More specifically, you will, together with other members of the research centre, be responsible for the further development of the Centre for Economics and Ethics at the KU Leuven.

You will be able to obtain competitive funding and support PhD students.

Teaching

You will engage in high quality teaching.You are prepared to teach in Dutch as well as in English at the Faculty of Economics and Business, at the Institute of Philosophy as well as at other faculties at the bachelor, the master and the advanced master level. You are also prepared to teach introductory courses of philosophy in large groups.

Requirements

You hold a PhD in Philosophy and/or a PhD in Economics of Business. An additional degree in the second field is highly recommended. The quality of research should be evidenced by the quality of international publications, books and international research experience.

You can demonstrate didactical skills at academic level. You are collegial and you have organizational and managerial talents. A good knowledge of English is required.

The administrative language at KU Leuven is Dutch. Should you not or not master sufficiently Dutch at the moment of appointment, the KU Leuven will provide training that will enable you to participate in board meetings. Before you will teach in Dutch, the opportunity to achieve the required level of Dutch will be offered.

You will be hired as ‘tenure track’ for a period of 5 years after which you will be appointed as associate professor conditional on positive evaluation.
