Oxfam has shown that in 2017, eight men (!) own the same wealth as the poorest half of humanity which consists of 3.6 billion other people. How is this related to a capitalist economic system? Is such inequality inherent to capitalism? If yes, why has no revolution taken place so far? Why do we accept such circumstances? What can we change, and how?
"The “Doux Commerce” thesis states that the capitalist spirit and the drive to efficiency and profit will eventually contribute to peace, justice and morality. This is valid if competitors perceive markets as contributing to mutual benefit. At the same time, rather recent phenomena tend to change market conditions. Business ethics needs to reflect these developments in the economy as well as their consequences for businesses, societies and individuals.
